"new features: devblog.stumbleupon.com [devblog.stumbleupon.com]
From which some random discussion point to mind occur -
There used to be something called "news" that wizzed its way to all Stumblers without having to remember to check Dev Blog.
"You can now flag someone as helpful, friendly, hostile, spammer, etc., right from their inbox message (without having to visit their profile to do so)."
OK that is a genuine enhancement (ie something useful).
"Thumbnails - We now show small screenshots of websites in many places. Currently, this includes the Buzz page, website review pages, and tag pages."
This is one of the most annoying "features" of sites that *aren't* Stumble.
Why emulate the inferior?
Related videos - When on a website review page, we'll show you a few videos in the same topic as the review page's site
Why?
Centralised recommendations are the antithesis of Stumbling.
we also make sure blocked users don't show up in your Recent Visitors section
Why?
and they do show - as an empty square.
If a blocked idiot is visiting, don't I want to know?
Hell yeah I want to know.
Maybe they are visiting to update the insults they call a review.
Wouldn't it be better if blocked persond couldn't see your page at all? |

I've found the majority of the time, the "related" videos have no relation at all to what I'm reviewing. |

Devblog was specifically created to help with communication.
I like the Thumbnails. Easier to find stumbles in your likes.
Related videos are only suggestions. You dont have to like it.
Normal stumbles are just suggested websites. What's the difference?
Many people don't want to see blocked stumblers. As far as I know, this was a feature request.
I remember bringing this up too.. related to the stalking issues. |

If stuff is in Devblog but not in News how does that aid communication?
If Devblog eventually leads to something like a forum there will be real communication.
Expanded (or any) thumbs help what? :-P
Give me an alphabetical (or otherwise relevant) list.
Thumbs of a page from a site are not readable so enhance nothing.
The difference between "normal" stumbles (peer group recommendation) and "imposed recommendation from on high" is surely obviously a pointless polarity.
Not seeing blocked stumblers has been a long time "feature" (aka annoyance).
I repeat "Wouldn't it be better if blocked persons couldn't see your page at all?"
Stalking issues? What stalking issues? According to the Core there is no such thing!!
Feel free to add to discussion, quiet alleged dissenters. |

a) I can only assume that they believe that a little feature enhancement here and there is not considered newsworthy.
And how many more discussion forums do we need? They have made it clear that some things are not up for discussion. Some things (like beta) are just here to stay.
What is important, is information.
b) Thumbnails help to visually find stumbles. But they do work better with images than websites, I'll give you that.
This is how it helps me. I don't blog everything I see. So, for example, this tag has pics that I have blogged and others that I'm just bookmarking.
c) The video stumbles are also from peers.
d) I repeat... yes.. that would make a great feature request. But I am done requesting features.
e) Yes, stalking is an old issue. |
